Dr. Nirmala Prabhu has penned six books in Kannada featuring the leading saints and poets in Kannada history and Bhakthi (Devotional) Sahithya. She begins her coverage with Vyasathirtha the well known guru of Purandara Dasa, Kanaka Dasa and Vadiraja. Dr. Prabhu also writes about Basavanna’s vachanas and D. V Gundappa’s Monkuthimmana Kagga. Her explanattions of Allama Prabhu, Akka Maha Devi, Sarvagna, Sanchi Honamma, Shankukha Shivayogi and Kuvempu comprise an exhaustive coverage of the Kannada pantheon of philosopher poets.

These books have been claimed by libraries across India. Her books “Kannadada Navarathnagalu”, “Bharathada Mahan Chethanagalu” and “Dasa Diggajaru” were recommended as college level text books. Dr. Prabhu’s poetic works in her “He Deva” and “Hakkiya Haadu” books received literary laurels and recognition from the Kannada Sahithya Sammelan.
